SEPARATIC is a Swiss deep-tech start-up specializing in hydrogen recovery and carbon capture.
The company is developing patented porous graphene membranes (PGMs) that exploit an innovative technique known as “template plasma etching”. This process creates very small, high-density pores of less than 5 nm in size. The result is a significant improvement in gas separation performance.
SEPARATIC tackles the high costs and high energy consumption of traditional solutions such as amine scrubbing.
Its technology is modular and requires no chemicals. The system is around 20 times smaller than conventional carbon capture units and significantly reduces economic hurdles with a target capture cost of less than CHF 25 per tonne of CO₂.
The company is managed by a specialized team of graphene and finance experts.
By 2030, SEPARATIC plans to move from equipment sales (B2B) to a “Capture-as-a-Service” (CaaS) model.
This technology has attracted a great deal of interest from industry, including collaborations with major players such as Air Liquide.
