In Switzerland today, almost one in two people with a chronic illness does not take their medication correctly. This lack of therapeutic adherence costs the healthcare system over CHF 30 billion every year. In response to this problem, the start-up D4P – Dose for Patient – has developed a mobile application and a web platform for tracking drugs from the moment they are ordered to the moment they are taken by the patient. Thanks to the D4P app, pharmacists can scan each drug ordered as they prepare patients’ weeklies. They also use the app to get a reminder of when and how much to take their medication, and to validate that they have taken it. For people who are not self-sufficient, this can be done by a caregiver.
