Logistock: a second life for building materials

As the first Swiss marketplace for construction site surpluses, Logistock is changing the way construction companies manage their materials. Founded in Bulle, the start-up offers a simple, sustainable solution to reduce waste, support the circular economy and make construction more responsible. We met Leon Baftiri and Samuel Broch, the young founders.

Logistock: a second life for building materials

Was hat Sie zur Gründung Ihres Start-ups inspiriert?

The Logistock project was born in 2021 as part of our studies. We noticed that a significant amount of new building materials is systematically thrown away, either during construction work or after being stored in a depot. These surpluses are estimated at around ten percent of the quantities of materials used. For companies, it is often more expensive to collect, store and reuse these materials than to dispose of them and buy new. We wanted to turn this waste into an opportunity by creating a materials exchange.

Can you briefly explain how your solution works?

Logistock is the first Swiss marketplace specialising in surplus building materials. In practical terms, construction companies can post their surplus materials online, with offers often up to 70% cheaper than on the traditional market. Our platform simplifies the process: posting ads, targeted visibility and secure transactions. It is an ecological and economical tool at the same time, as it also reduces transport, storage and disposal costs.

Who are your current customers and where are your potential markets?

Since 2024, we have had more than 90 users and over 220 active listings. At first, we targeted professionals. Then, at the beginning of 2025, in response to the DIY boom, we also opened up to private individuals, with the aim of giving them access to professional materials at reduced prices. Our customers are therefore both private individuals and construction professionals. In the long term, we want to open up more to construction SMEs, construction industry umbrella associations and the public works sector.

What are the benefits for users and how does your solution differ from existing approaches in your field?

Our solution offers a twofold benefit. First, an economic one: access to and use of the platform are free. Second, an ecological one: by giving surpluses a second life, we reduce the waste and emissions caused by transport and production. Unlike general platforms, Logistock is entirely focused on the construction sector.

Wie positionieren Sie sich gegenüber der Konkurrenz?

Our strength lies in our specialisation and local roots. We work with partners in the industry, including a Swiss market leader with whom we have entered into a strategic partnership. The “Carbon Fri” label we have been awarded strengthens our credibility in terms of sustainability.

What are your next planned steps?

We want to expand our network by working with new HGC branches and strengthening our presence among Fribourg construction companies. The medium-term goal is to make Logistock known throughout French-speaking Switzerland.

One last question to finish: what does your collaboration with Fri Up look like?

We discovered Fri Up in 2021 at a presentation at our Collège du Sud in Bulle – just when the idea for Logistock was born. We were then invited by the association to present our idea at the Start-up Lunch last September: a great opportunity to present our solution to the Fribourg ecosystem and expand our network.
