Virtual reality resuscitation courses and improved weather forecasts: these are the projects of start-ups Be!rescuer and Meteobooking, which we support from our Sud incubator in Vaulruz.
Be!rescuer: Every year in Switzerland, 8,000 people suffer cardiorespiratory arrest. In the event of serious illness, the victim will only survive if he or she is resuscitated immediately and kept alive until an ambulance arrives. Witnesses must therefore act without hesitation. But as for many, it’s been several years since their last first-aid course, this is not a matter of course. That’s why start-up Be!rescuer has created an innovative resuscitation course that teaches people how to save lives once and for all. Be!rescuer’s training combines mannequins and virtual reality headsets. Plunged into an emergency situation, for example on the street or in the office, participants (re)learn insufflation, chest compression and the use of a defibrillator in the presence of a professional trainer. These courses can easily be repeated on a regular basis. More immersive and realistic than standard training, the Be!rescuer initiation enhances participants’ ability to act calmly and correctly in an emergency.
Meteobooking : When it comes to choosing your next vacation, one question is usually the most important: is the weather going to be good where I want to go? On the internet or in travel agencies, medium- and long-term forecasts are based on an average of weather data collected between 1980 and 2010. But Meteobooking, a start-up company, has come up with a more relevant and reliable forecast for holidaymakers. Meteobooking has created a new database, updated daily. This not only compiles standard data (rain, temperature, etc.), but also more specialized data used by the agro-industry in particular. Using artificial intelligence, the start-up customizes weather predictions according to location, period or type of weather required. For example, it can predict with near-certainty in which cities in the world the weather will be fine and at least 15° in February 2019.
